About IVF

IVF represents in vitro fertilization. It is one of the most generally known sorts of assisted reproductive technology (ART). IVF works by utilizing a combination of prescriptions and minor procedures to assist sperm for penetration in egg and resulting embryos, ready for transfer into the uterus.

Our Mission

Many poor couples are entertained under the umbrella of WFA (Women Friendly Association). All women who are responsible for IVF like bilateral tubal blockage, endometriosis, PCO, etc., receive full entitlements from WFA and are charged half the fee for IVF.

Our mission regarding stem cell services is to promote biological parenting, especially in Muslim countries. Our center is the last hope for Azospermic males and even females with ovarian failure.

IVF Procedure

It is the procedure in which by extracting the egg and retrieving the sperm sample and then manually joining the egg and sperm in the dish. The embryo is then transferred to the uterus.

Step Involved in Procedure

The procedure is completed in the following steps, starting from the 2nd day of periods. The first step is stimulation of ovaries, followed by egg retrieval, sperm meeting, embryo development, and fertilization. At the end of the cycle, embryo transfer and a final blood test are done to check the success rate.

We give oral tablet’s and injection’s(Ganadotrophins) at the day 2nd or 3rd of menses. We usually give antagonist protocol in which we add antagonists at day 6th, 8th, or 10th day of menses according to individual monitoring.

When egg gets mature, then we give 10,000IU of LH surge and usually retrieve eggs after 35-37 hours.

Induction Of Ovulation

In our setup OPU is done under analgesia and sedation only, we do not give general anesthesia. Pt is kept in lithotomy position and ovum pick up is done. We usually give injectable antibiotic cover in single shot. Semen collection usually performed before OPU.

Ovum Pickup

*Identification of COC (Cumulus Oophorus Complex) *Dennudation of ovum after identification of M2 eggs *ICS I (Intracytoplasmic sperm injection) *Checking of fertilization after 12-18 hours confirmation of embryo at blastocyst stage.

Lab Procedure

It is usually done on day 5th of ovum pickup. Some time we have to transfer embryo earlier in some circumstances.

Embryo Transfer

Unusually oral or Intravaginal medicine but in some condition we have to add injectable HCG, specially in aged patients. It may bring false +ve until unless BHCG level get’s double in 24-48 hour or pregnancy is confirmed on ultra sound.

Doctor Sajida Shahawaz

Victory is the cascade of events that can be pursued only with love, passion, hardship, and true command. Dr. Sajida Shahnawaz is the only Pakistani woman who acknowledged women as mothers and perceived that this is the maximum pride and delight of a female. She decided to help those women who are deprived of this joy of motherhood, whatever the reason for infertility.
Our society has always stigmatized our females, but she became the rock where mockery could never settle. Dr. Sajida Shahnawaz felt the pain of the daughters of Hawwa and decided to help the 20% infertile population.

2011-2013

She is being awarded twice at national level in 2011 and 2013 by the governor of Punjab and was given a medical honor award by Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan. Prof Dr. Panos Zavos conducted stem cells research in Andrology Institute of Pakistan along with Dr. Sajida Shahnawaz. First stem cell baby of the world was born in Pakistan.

2014

This inspiration insisted her to conduct research on low-cost IVF in developing countries, acknowledged by ESHRE. She became the first international speaker from Pakistan after 37 years of history at the forum of ESHRE.

2015

She became the 1st international speaker from Pakistan at the ESHRE forum. Later in 2015, Andrology Institute of America Prof Panos Zavos entitled her "The IVF Queen of Pakistan".

Gender

Gender Selection

Andrology institute of Pakistan (STAR ICSI) is working since feb 2009 in Pakistan. This ART center was formed with collaboration of USA, basically as a developing country project and started in the city of eagles (Sargodha). Idea behind this center was to help those who are financially deprived and cannot afford the expenses of IVF, ICSI.

Later on project of gender selection was started in 2012 basically concept and idea behind this gender selection was to help those deprived females of this society who are becoming the victim of Anemia, APH (Anti Partum Heamarhage), Premature deliveries, systemic disorders resulting in maternal morbidity and maternal mortality, just because of this fact that they are forced to produce a child every year because their busband’s and families need baby boy. Dr. Sajida Shahnawaz started this project of gender selection and conducted her study regarding her new technology ISSF (Invivo Selected sperm filtration) and offered that she can control the population of Pakistan in the coming 5 years by this technology.

ISSF (Invivo Selected Sperm Filteration)

Dr. Sajida Shahnawaz along her team of STAR ICSI was performing a research on cervical musous of different females in there reproductive age 20 – 44 yrs. Idea was to sort out some changes in infertile women. This mucous was collected in there infertility windows. This study was conducted with the help of lady health workers. They were provided performa in urdu where informations were kept secret by studying their mucous study. This fact was found that some families have very narrow fenestrations in their mucous. When their details were taken, then astonishing fact, come into knowledge that these women were having only male babies in their families.Actually this is fact when sperm enters in cervical mucous during fertility window then size of these fenestration become adjustable according to Antisperm antibodies reaction with female cervical mucous. In some couple this reaction is strong resulting in narrow fenestrations, where light narrow and motile sperm (y sperm) can only get enters

Success Rate: 90-95%

Sperm Sorting

This technology is by Prof Panos Zavos. Our centre is directly and officially affiliated with Andrology institute of America and this technology is basically consisting of many sequence of laboratory manuals and step by which Y and X sperm are separated invitro and segregated pallots are transferred inside the uterus.

PGD and PGS

Success Rate:89%

ISSF

We take cervical mucous of female partner.
Husband’s semen analysis and evaluation of X and Y sperm.
Sperm mucous interaction study.
We prepare a gel based on this cervical mucous and sperm induction study.
It is applied to the cervical canal to facilitate narrowing of fenestration, allowing only Y sperm to move in.
Pt is provided with some boosters to activate this reaction.
